FINE DINING
Historic unagi house renowned for slow-grilled, charcoal-kissed eel.
Classic unagi restaurant in Minami-Senju that many locals consider the benchmark for grilled eel in Tokyo. Eels are prepared to order and grilled in the Kanto style — steamed then char-kissed over charcoal until the fat renders and the tare caramelizes. The house unaju (eel over rice in a lacquered box) is the move, but yakitori and a few side dishes round things out. The setting feels almost rural despite being in the city: low wooden buildings, a small inner garden, and a calm, almost hushed dining room. (LASTMINUTE)
